EDMS Australia has been engaged by Pure Battery Technologies Pty Ltd (PBT) to provide selective upfront engineering for a Battery Minerals Refinery proposed for Townsville. The PBT's refinery will commercialise the patented Selective Acid Leaching (SAL) process discovered by the University of Queensland. The patented SAL process upgrades Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate into a battery ready nickel and cobalt precursor material, more efficiently and more environmentally friendly than existing processes.
The refinery plans to produce 125,000 tonnes of Nickel Sulphate and 15,000 tonnes of Cobalt concentrate from 250,000 tonnes of MHP per year in a cleaner and greener way. The importance of economical battery production to help supply the demand in renewable energy storage is a crucial component to our endeavours in reducing carbon emissions and preventing global warming to catastrophic levels.
EDMS' team of engineers, designers, technical writers and estimators is working collaboratively with Pure Battery Technologies to develop their refinery's principal process and operation requirements, process flow, piping and instrumentation, procurement and technical specifications and upfront end engineering.
This project is inline with EDMS' business strategy of supporting renewable energy projects and offers EDMS a privledge opportunity to be involve with a land mark export project for Townsville and to broaden our people's skill set and expertise.
