Warren has worked in engineering for over 20 years, beginning in the mines at Charters Towers to then working on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link in London to finally settling in Cairns working at EDMS Australia in 2008. As a consultant engineer, there are often challenges in balancing time, cost and quality constraints. The difficulty isn’t just solving complex problems; it’s also about managing time and budget pressure to ensure the final product meets our client’s expectations and requirements.
As an inspector, there are often challenges in making critical decisions on the fitness for service of high-risk plant based on limited access, time constraints, aging assets, pressure from stakeholders and interpreting complex inspection standards. Warren is often travelling to various sites ranging from workshops, shipyards, processing plants to Defence bases.
Engineering is rewarding, diverse and satisfying. There is no better satisfaction when a client contacts you at the completion of a project to congratulate you on a job well done.
Jesse designs various mechanical structures and equipment in accordance with relevant Australian standards, i.e. AS3990 – Mechanical Equipment and AS1210 – Pressure Vessels.
Previously working for GEA Australia in Sydney, where we focused on pneumatic processing covered the mechanical, electrical and process design and installation. Then Jesse offered his expertise at Eagle Automation, a company focused on delivering highly rated and crash resistant gates and barriers as a project manager/engineer. Moving back to Australia in 2024 where he joined the team at EDMS Australia, where the work has been very rewarding and all our colleagues are a great team of people to work with.

Lito joined the team in 2011 and is our Quality Assurance and Quality Control Manager, overseeing the creation and execution of EDMS Australia’s Quality & Safety Management Systems whilst ensuring compliance, conducting inspections and audits, managing non-conformances, maintaining documentation, and supporting certification efforts.
Bringing more than 28 years of experience in the construction industry, Lito has overcome many challenges, from contractor pushback, communication gaps and documentation load. Contractors or site supervisors may push to proceed with work even when non-conformities are identified, creating conflict between quality enforcement and production continuity. Bridging the understanding between engineers, contractors, and subcontractors about quality expectations is a constant challenge and comprehensive documentation, traceability, and compliance records can be overwhelming, especially under time pressure.
With the challenges, our industry is still very rewarding. Lito enjoys technical challenges, being the guardian of quality and integrity. Lito values the opportunity to uphold standards, prevent costly errors, and contribute to the success of the entire project team. It’s rewarding to know that our input can make a measurable difference in both project outcomes and public safety.

As a consultant engineer at EDMS Australia, James wears many different hats within his role predominately focusing on client and stakeholder liaisons to ascertain project and technical requirements, assisting clients in the development of project scopes and boundaries, undertaking and guiding project and technical risk assessments, producing fee proposals, cost estimations and schedules for various tasks and client projects through from concept to construction.
James has been employed with EDMS Australia for over 20 years and gained experience in Shipbuilding, Mining & Refining, Sugar, Defence (Land & Sea) & Utilities (Power & Water). With a very diverse range of experience that James can draw upon to complete tasks without being constrained by the normalities of a single industry.
EDMS Australia is a great working environment where everyone works together and can be themselves. It’s evident by the very low turnover of staff and duration that many of the team members have been working here for that we’re doing something right.
James was previously an Application Engineer at Kenworth Trucks (PACCAR) Australia and joined the EDMS Australia team in 2019 and oversees Design Analysis, 3D modelling and Drafting.
Previously James was a high school teacher where he excelled at math and science and chose to go back to university to study an engineering degree. Once fully qualified in his engineering degree, James started work at Kenworth, the truck manufacturing company in Melbourne. A great opportunity which James would’ve happily continued, but Melbourne is cold and wet and overall, not a great place to live, so he moved to Cairns where he is originally from.
The hardest part of his role at EDMS Australia is balancing the pressure to get a job done on time and on budget, meeting the sometimes evolving and changing needs and expectation of our clients, and ensuring that we have taken the time to get all the details correct. This can be challenging, but in a good way.
James enjoys the diversity of projects, when we are constantly doing something slightly new and different. It doesn’t get boring or repetitive, it’s always challenging, and the opportunity to learn and grow within our roles at EDMS Australia certainly surpasses anywhere else.

Marek left his accounts role in Czech Republic to move to Australia, where he could live with his family and experience the Australian way of life and joined the EDMS Australia team as our bookkeeper. With key responsibilities, ensuring supplier invoices go through our internal approval process, are entered in the accounting system and prepared for payment. In addition, Marek supports other accounting-related activities such as purchasing and reporting.
Graduating from the Business Academy in Hodonin gave Marek an insight into the world of Accounting and Business. Continuing this path by enrolling in the Business and Cultural Studies program at the Czech University of Life Sciences. After earning a bachelor’s degree, Marek was fortunate to find a job as Data Analys for an oil company in their Prague business centre, where he truly began his career in Accounts.
After some travels, time abroad, and completing his master’s degree, Marek joined a global relocation company where his responsibilities covered both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. Since joining EDMS Australia, Marek really enjoys working with his colleagues, who are very kind and supportive. It’s also interesting to see the connections between EDMS and local businesses. And working in beautiful Cairns is just the cherry on top.
Chris joined the EDMS Australia team in 2019 and brings almost 30 years of experience to the role and our broader team. Predominately organising our team members with the right skill set to jobs for Fabrication or maintenance and repairs on workshop equipment, procurement of welding consumables, steel sections selecting the right people for site jobs, organise finished fabricated items to site, delivery of finished products to clients and organisation of plant and equipment to sites.
The most challenging aspect of my job has been the physical demands, especially after working on high-pressure projects with tight deadlines over many years. Roles that required working in extreme heat, confined spaces, lifting heavy equipment, and traveling to remote mine sites have all contributed to the wear and tear on my body.
While mentally Chris is still sharp and ready to take on the work, physically, he’s had to acknowledge that the body doesn’t bounce back the way it used to. Tasks like managing on-site logistics and freight or pushing through long hours on shutdowns have become more taxing than they once were. That said, we’ve adapted by focusing more on mentoring, supervising, and applying. EDMS Australia have a very good crew to be working with.
Clinton joined the EDMS Australia team to oversee the daily operations of the industrial services division, business development, client relations, financial performance and team management.

Project management comes with many challenges, where some projects run outside normal working hours and thankfully, we have a great balance of professionalism and camaraderie at EDMS where everyone takes their work seriously, but we also know how to share a laugh and enjoy the day.
Nicole started in the construction and mining industry 18 years ago, mostly focusing on labour hire for multiple mining companies and then onto Century Mine where she worked as the Site Representative / People Coordinator. A three-year hiatus from the industry to welcome a young family and then joining EDMS Australia in 2017 for a 6-week recruitment project only and Nicole is still here managing recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, HR compliance and policy, training and development.
The most challenging part of her role is supporting different types of people. Today’s workplace is unique in that we have more generations working together than ever before, as people are living longer and retiring later. This can be a real strength, offering opportunities to share knowledge and perspectives across generations. At the same time, it can present challenges, as expectations and working styles can differ significantly. Navigating those differences while building strong, cohesive teams is both the challenge and the reward.
Nicole has always enjoyed working with and meeting people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, interests and personalities. The construction and manufacturing industry brings together such a wide variety of people, which makes every day interesting. We love a good story in HR.
Mark was raised on a cane farm in Ingham, which has given him a deep appreciation for the sugar industry. Working in mills he’s gained a broader perspective, and a stronger technical understanding of how the industry operates beyond farming. Joining EDMS Australia in early 2015, Mark’s role is to provide leadership to the workshop, prioritising projects to meet deadlines and match tasks with the skills and experience of each team member.
Right out of high-school Mark travelled to remote locations to build up his level of expertise where he underwent training and obtain a slew of tickets enabling him to work across a variety of high risk projects. Mark really enjoys working with modern tools and the latest advancements in technology like CNC machines, where it’s rewarding to see how these machines can boost precision and speed on complex tasks.
Working with a team where everyone has their own way of doing things can be challenging, there’s often more than one way to get the job done, but not all methods fit the situation. The hard part is balancing different ideas while keeping safety, efficiency, and quality in mind.
